The name comes from the Tupi-Guarani language and means "boat cove," a perfect translation for what it has always been: a natural harbor, a place of arrivals, crossings, and encounters.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

With the arrival of Azorean immigrants in the 17th century, Garopaba gained new colors and customs.
